LeMond Revolution Trainer

lemond

The LeMond Revolution is the closest thing you can get to the feeling of riding outdoors on an indoor trainer, because its direct drive technology integrates directly with your bikes drive train, rather than contact with a mushy, slippery roller.

The LeMond Revolution replicates the inertia of a rolling bicycle, offering progressive resistance that provides the closest you can get to riding outdoors. One turn of the pedals and you wont go back to conventional indoor trainers.

If you are in the market for a LeMond trainer call in and see your local bike shop now to secure the best indoor trainer on the market for the long winter ahead!

LeMond Revolution including 10spd cassette RRP $1,090
LeMond Power Pilot RRP $690

Mavic Plasma SLR team helmet review

Tuesday, April 10 2012

For the 2012 season the Subway Pro Cycling team is lucky enough to have Mavic on board as our helmet sponsor and Armstrong Sport have hooked us up with the top of the range Plasma SLR, in bright ‘Mavic’ yellow!

Once you get over the initial shock caused by the brightness, this is actually one cool looking lid. If the yellow is too much for you and you prefer to be more stealth, it is also available in matt black.

After a few weeks of wearing the Plasma SLR helmet, I can tell you that it is on par with the most comfortable helmets I have worn.  It gives a snug, almost-custom-feeling fit with luxurious padding which includes a pad on the inside of the dial at the back which is a nice touch.  The padding used includes low density open cell foam close to the skin to pull moisture away and higher density foam beneath that for extra support and a nice fit with no pressure on your head.  Mavic use carbon fibre to reinforce the structure of the helmet which allows for oversized vents with no compromise on protection so there is heaps of ventilation which is great for the hot days!  If you’re a bald dude (like some on the team) sunscreen is key and if you have an untamed mop of hair, careful with the ‘helmet hair’ – Oddy is the only one I know that can rock that style.

The size adjustment dial at the back gives around 6cm of leeway so this helmet will fit nicely regardless of the size of your melon and can be adjusted to easily accommodate a beanie or cap if you’re cycling around Southland.

If you are in the market for a new helmet, definitely check out the new range from Mavic.  One thing is certain, you’ll definitely be seen! See the Armstrong Sport dealer page for stockists.

Mavic Freehub Body Servicing

Monday, February 27 2012

Easy to follow how to video guides on how to service your Mavic freehub body below. Mavic recommend regular servicing of freehub bodies which can vary depending on riding conditions.

For typical use freehub servicing should be carried out every 2,000km for road wheels and every 1,000km for MTB wheels. Riding in dusty or wet conditions will reduce this service interval. Mavic freehub oil is available from any of our Mavic dealers.
